I just talked to my brother and he said "did you shut down the blog". No in spite of my lack of entries, I have no intentions of shutting down the blog. In all honesty, I did a cartoon yesterday. The premise was me breaking into a former Denver Bronco's house and inviting him to a fundraising event we are going to have in February. After showing it to Misty, she said "why don't you go back to writing." Her words cut a little and I decided that I would hold off on publishing the cartoon.
Saturday was an exciting day for the 5 Million Kids camp (Misty, myself and the dogs). In one day we got a check for $100 dollars from a complete stranger, as well as checks for $125, and $500! Obviously we are always trying to share with folks, what we want to do, but we have not gotten such a large amount of donations since the Ascent. So where do we stand you ask. (I should point out at this point the question mark key on our laptop doesn't work).
As of today we have $5500 saved in our adoption fund. This means we are only $2500 shy of our initial goal of $8000. As you are probably aware if you have read our blog, Ethiopian adoption costs are estimated between $25 and $30,000. Probably closer to $30K for us because we are hoping to adopt two kiddos.
So as of lately, I have not been running, because I have nothing to train for, and thus have not had that time that spurs my creative juices and pushes me to share our adoption adventure with you all the reader. It is a vicisous cycle, because I love this outlet, this narthex where my love for writing, meets my love for sharing with people about our adoption and adoption in general. Thus this last month I have hardly written and now I am dimmer than a 2 watt bulb because of it. This all being said, for me running, writing and asking people to support us in starting our family are all disciplines, disciplines I hope to take seriously as they are all woven together to make our dream a little more real.
