Do you lie in bed at night thinking about me. Or should say, thinking how you can help us raise money. Well, I am glad you mentioned it. I recently had the good fortune of being able to sell a random piece of equipment on a small local online classified website called craigslist. This little niche of a website is like the classified section of a newspaper, only it is online! Early in the evening I "posted" the piece of equipment and like my prom date, before the night was over, the item was with a more interested party.
Not only did I make a sale, this gentleman also became my best friend. Here is how the very non shady transaction went down.
6PM Misty and I brought over the piece of equipment to the gentleman's house. He invited us into his house and inspected the merchandise. It was indeed what he was looking for, so he gave us some money, and than we shook hands to seal the transaction. He than he invited us into his dark back yard to "show us something". We obliged (we didn't want to be rude). At which point he than invited us into his mobile home... not shady at all. After about three hours, we were on our way home.
The next day I get a phone message from my craigslist friend, he had a question about the piece of equipment. I promptly send him an email, and answer the question as best I can. Shortly there after I get a return email. Not only did he thank me for the information, but he also invited us to the lake with him next summer to go jet skiing and also to go quading with him later this year, he included pictures of his four wheeler in the email as if to say, "you could ride this one". I have never been quadding before, but that sounds like fun.
I think you see where I am going with this. We all know I am trying to raise money, and I could always use more friends. So what I have begun to do is sell everything I can live without on this little gem of a website called craigslist. I have posted everything from an extra washing machine, some of Misty's jewelry, our neighbors dog, naming rights to our children, and some of Misty's clothes. Strangely enough, Misty's clothes are the biggest seller. Some buyer named Andy B, in Durham, North Carolina keeps buying the clothes almost as soon as I post them.
This all being said, this is another creative way if folks want to support us. If you have junk in your trunk or junk in your garage that you are tired of looking at, an old car perhaps, oil paintings done by 17th Century Italian masters sitting around that you hardly look at, I would be more than happy to sell that for you on craigslist. I will even introduce you to the friends I make on craigslist and maybe we all can go quading together.
Keep the merch coming...it's fabulous!
ReplyDeleteAndy, could you please send us some pictures of you modeling the merch :)
